United Kingdom

The budget app that works in the UK — without connecting your bank

Most budget apps that advertise automatic bank import were built for US banks. In the UK you either wrestle with patchy Open Banking connections or you log spending yourself — which is exactly what Cash Compass is designed for.

Apple-native · No bank logins · iCloud sync

Why this fits

Why UK budgeters pick Cash Compass

1

Why US budget apps disappoint UK users

Copilot Money, Monarch and Rocket Money are built around US bank connections and don't serve UK accounts. YNAB's direct bank import is centred on North America, so UK subscribers end up doing file imports anyway. You pay a US-priced subscription for the feature that works least well where you live. Cash Compass sidesteps the problem: there is no bank connection to break, so a UK current account, a Monzo pot and a Starling joint account all track the same way.

2

Set it to GBP in ten seconds

Cash Compass reads every ISO currency, so pounds sterling is a first-class choice rather than a workaround — no dollar signs bleeding into your charts. Pick GBP during onboarding and every screen, chart axis and CSV export renders in £. If you're paid in another currency or split time abroad, you can change it in Settings at any point without losing history.

3

Built for how UK spending actually happens

Contactless and Faster Payments mean spending in the UK is fast and fragmented — a £3.20 coffee, a £6 lunch meal deal, a round of drinks split over Monzo. Those are the transactions that quietly eat a month and the ones automated feeds categorise worst. Logging by voice as you leave the shop takes about as long as putting your phone away, and the category is right because you chose it.

How it works

Three taps from blank screen to budget

  1. 1. Capture

Voice, photo of a receipt, or 3-tap manual entry — every method takes under 5 seconds.

  2. 2. Categorize

Cash Compass picks the category automatically. Override once and it learns your pattern.

  3. 3. Review

Weekly chart shows where money went. Adjust caps before the month is over, not after.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Cash Compass work with UK banks?

It doesn't connect to them, by design. There's no Open Banking link, no credentials handed over and nothing to reauthorise every 90 days. You log spending by voice, by photographing a receipt, or in a few taps. The trade-off is manual entry; the upside is a tracker that behaves identically whether you bank with Barclays, Monzo or a building society.

Can I use pounds sterling?

Yes. GBP is selectable during setup and changeable in Settings later. Amounts, charts and exports all follow the currency you pick, and the app ships in English along with 32 other languages if you'd rather use another.

How much does it cost in the UK?

Manual logging is free forever with no ads. Premium unlocks unlimited voice entry and receipt scanning, full charts, CSV export and iCloud sync, and the App Store shows the price in pounds for your account with a 14-day free trial on the annual plan.

Is my financial data sent anywhere?

Your transactions live on your iPhone, and on premium they sync through your own iCloud account rather than our servers. Because Cash Compass never holds bank credentials, there is no credential store to breach — a meaningful difference from aggregator-based apps.

Apple-only.

Privacy-first.

No bank logins, no Plaid, no data sales. All data lives in your iCloud.
