A budget app for Germany that counts your cash spending

Germany combines strong privacy expectations with unusually high cash usage — two things automated budgeting apps handle badly. Cash Compass is built for euro, German-language, and spending that never touches a statement.

Apple-native · No bank logins · iCloud sync

Why this fits

Why budgeters in Germany pick Cash Compass

1

Cash spending that no feed can see

Cash remains far more common in Germany than in most comparable economies, and a bakery or Imbiss paid in coins simply does not appear in any bank feed. Apps built on account aggregation are structurally blind to it, which means their totals understate reality. Cash Compass records cash exactly like a card payment, so the monthly figure in Germany reflects what you actually spent.

2

Privacy without handing over bank access

German users tend to be more sceptical than most about sharing banking credentials with third parties, and reasonably so. Cash Compass never requests them: there is no aggregator, no PSD2 authorisation and no stored access to your Konto. Transactions stay on your device, and premium sync uses your own iCloud account rather than servers we run.

3

Euro and a proper German interface

Set EUR at onboarding and every total, chart and CSV export uses it. German is one of 33 translated languages and is chosen independently of currency, so you get a German interface with euro amounts rather than a partially translated US app. Categories are ones you create, not an imported American list.

How it works

Three taps from blank screen to budget

  1. 1. Capture

Voice, photo of a receipt, or 3-tap manual entry — every method takes under 5 seconds.

  2. 2. Categorize

Cash Compass picks the category automatically. Override once and it learns your pattern.

  3. 3. Review

Weekly chart shows where money went. Adjust caps before the month is over, not after.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Cash Compass connect to German banks?

No. There's no PSD2 or aggregator connection, so Sparkasse, DKB, N26 and every other institution are supported equally — because you're recording spending rather than importing it. Nothing needs periodic reauthorisation.

Is it good for tracking cash?

That's one of its strongest cases in Germany. Cash purchases are logged in seconds by voice or a few taps and sit alongside card spending in the same categories and charts — something statement-import apps cannot do at all.

Is the app in German?

Yes, German is among the 33 translated languages, set separately from currency, so a German interface with euro amounts is standard.
