A budget app for Mexico that counts cash and OXXO payments

Between OXXO cash payments, SPEI transfers and meses sin intereses, spending in Mexico rarely fits the shape a US budgeting app expects. Cash Compass tracks pesos in Spanish, with nothing to connect.

Why this fits

Why budgeters in Mexico pick Cash Compass

1

Cash and OXXO payments never reach a feed

Paying at an OXXO — for a bill, a top-up or an online order settled in cash — is routine in Mexico and completely invisible to any statement-import app, because the money left as cash. Combined with the everyday cash economy, that means an aggregator-based budget systematically understates what you spent. Cash Compass records whatever you tell it, so cash, card and OXXO payments land in the same categories.

2

Meses sin intereses hide future commitments

Interest-free monthly instalments are so common in Mexico that a single purchase can commit part of your income for a year while showing only a small charge this month. Because you choose what to log, you can record the full commitment when you buy or track each instalment — a level of control no automatic import offers, since feeds report only what has posted.

3

Pesos and a Spanish interface

Set MXN at onboarding and every total, chart axis and CSV export uses pesos. Spanish is one of the 33 translated languages, set independently of currency, so a Spanish interface with peso amounts is standard. If you receive remittances in dollars, every ISO currency is supported and switching later leaves existing records untouched.

How it works

Three taps from blank screen to budget

  1. 1. Capture

Voice, photo of a receipt, or 3-tap manual entry — every method takes under 5 seconds.

  2. 2. Categorize

Cash Compass picks the category automatically. Override once and it learns your pattern.

  3. 3. Review

Weekly chart shows where money went. Adjust caps before the month is over, not after.

FAQ

Common questions

Does it connect to BBVA México, Banorte or Santander?

No. There are no bank connections anywhere, so every Mexican bank is supported equally and nothing breaks or needs reauthorising. You record spending by voice, receipt photo or manual entry — which is also the only way cash and OXXO payments get tracked at all.

Can I track in Mexican pesos?

Yes — MXN is selectable at setup and changeable in Settings, and totals, charts and CSV exports all use it. All ISO currencies are supported for dollar income or remittances.

Is the app in Spanish?

Yes, Spanish is among the 33 translated languages, and interface language is separate from currency, so Spanish with peso amounts is the normal configuration in Mexico.

Does it work offline?

Manual entry works with no connection at all. Voice and receipt scanning need a connection because they're processed remotely, and premium iCloud sync catches up once you're back online.
