Budgeting in Australia without a single bank connection

Australian budgeters get the thin end of most budgeting apps: US pricing, US bank coverage, and sync that was never built for AU institutions. Cash Compass drops the sync entirely and works in AUD from the first screen.

Apple-native · No bank logins · iCloud sync

Why this fits

Why Australian budgeters pick Cash Compass

1

Why bank-sync apps underdeliver in Australia

The best-marketed budgeting apps — Copilot Money, Monarch, Rocket Money — don't serve Australian accounts at all, and YNAB's automatic import is centred on North America, leaving Australian subscribers importing files by hand. That's a lot of money for a feature that stops at the border. With Cash Compass there is no connection to fail, so a CBA account, an ING savings account and a cash tin are tracked the same way.

2

AUD everywhere, not a US app in disguise

Choose AUD during setup and the entire app follows — dashboard totals, chart axes, share cards and CSV exports. Cash Compass supports every ISO currency, so there's no assumption that you think in dollars-meaning-USD. If you travel or earn partly overseas, changing currency in Settings doesn't disturb what you've already logged.

3

Suited to BPAY, tap-and-go and split bills

Australian spending skews heavily to contactless and PayID transfers, plus the round-splitting that never reconciles neatly on a statement. Automated feeds turn those into vague merchant strings weeks later. Logging as it happens — "twelve dollars lunch" spoken into your phone — keeps categories accurate and makes the weekly review reflect what you actually did.

How it works

Three taps from blank screen to budget

  1. 1. Capture

Voice, photo of a receipt, or 3-tap manual entry — every method takes under 5 seconds.

  2. 2. Categorize

Cash Compass picks the category automatically. Override once and it learns your pattern.

  3. 3. Review

Weekly chart shows where money went. Adjust caps before the month is over, not after.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Cash Compass work with Australian banks?

There's no bank connection at all, which means every Australian institution is equally supported — big four, neobank or credit union. You log spending yourself via voice, receipt photo or manual entry. Nothing to authorise via the Consumer Data Right, nothing to reconnect when a token expires.

Can I set it to Australian dollars?

Yes. AUD is available at setup and switchable in Settings, and every total, chart and export uses it. The app reads all ISO currencies, so tracking a trip in another currency is a settings change rather than a workaround.

What does it cost for Australian users?

Manual logging is free permanently and ad-free. Premium adds unlimited voice and receipt capture, full charts, CSV export and iCloud sync; the App Store displays the price in AUD, and the annual plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

Will it work offline in regional areas?

Manual entry works with no connection at all, which suits patchy regional coverage. Voice and receipt scanning need a connection because they're processed remotely. On premium, iCloud sync catches up once you're back online.

Built native for iPhone, iPad, and Mac with iCloud sync. Works offline.

Privacy-first.

No bank logins, no Plaid, no data sales. All data lives in your iCloud.
